Wade Oltjenbruns wins the 2010 Class C-2 Gilson 6th Man Award. Now in its seventh year, the Gilson Award honors one boy and one girl in each class, recognizing a non-starter for his or her contributions to their team; not just points and rebounds, but also their attitude, sacrifice, and for being a team player. It is named in honor of the late Doug Gilson, who was a longtime basketball coach and administrator. Wade is the second boys basketball player from Creighton to win the award in the awards 7 year history. Randy Wilmes won the award in 2009. This is a great award that gives credit to individuals who may not start but that take the opportunity to help their team from a non starting role. Many times these are the players who determine the success of a team, at Creighton we have been fortunate to have numerous individuals support a common cause in boy's basketball. There is only one boy chosen in all of class C-2 so this is a very big honor.
