CHS Band recently featured in the Norfolk Daily News

The CHS band in recent years has started having to rely on quality not quantity. The article, that featured our 11 member band, talked about just that. Our bands director, Mr. Kevin Thoendel, is in his third year at Creighton High.
After director Marty Anholtz retired, several band directors followed and left after just a year or two. That is how the foundation of our band has been shook up. It is hard to keep a program going when there is no consistency in the way the show is run. Our band plays for home volleyball games and has marched in two parades. They recently marched in the Lions Club Parade in Norfolk and the Harvest of Harmony Parade in Grand Island.
The number of students participating in the 5th and 6th grade band program seems to be promising. In the paper it says that one student said that everything seems to occur in cycles, especially such things as participation levels in bands and sports in high school. Hopefully that is what's happening in our school. Maybe in the years to come the paper will be doing an article on how huge our band program is.
